For a lot of people, following Cassandra wasn't a choice. It was survival. Very few of us had the balls to go against her, and almost everyone who did wound up dead. There weren't a lot of us left by the end. We didn't make a very compelling case as an alternative. He worked for her, but I get the feeling he didn't like it very much.

( Which is to say, he was... fine. Mostly. When he had no direct orders to move against her, he didn't. They had a few terse but decidedly neutral run-ins over her time there. Scavenging the same place, passing on the road. It was a lot of silence, a lot of tension, a lot of deliberately walking around each other. That's the only reason she gives him the benefit of the doubt — there were plenty of opportunities where he could've been worse, but he wasn't.
But he was still a follower of Cassandra, and he still had a little too much fun roasting shit. Bad attitude, bad teeth. Now, he's got access to other options and better dental care, so... however he turns out is on him now, and not his circumstances. )

Well, if he's asking for it, you sure as hell don't need my permission to kick his ass.
[ Something tells him how the timelines work, she's got a more accurate picture of the kid at this point. Still, if Erik can behave, who the hell knows. Shifting alliances are nothing new when they've got bigger fish to fry, and the way the world moves against them, that's usually how it plays out.

Remy. Some people call him Gambit. Kind of felt like an older brother to me sometimes. He deserved to make it out of that place, too. So did the others. Feels like I left them behind.
